Sojourner Truth

Mural, Acrylic Paint on a Wall, 2008 or 2009. Painted this for the Berkeley Project organization. They gave us a location, there was a group of artists from the Cal art department who volunteered. We were each given a section of wall to paint. We could paint whatever we wanted, as long as it was positive and community affirming. I had just read the auto-biography of Sojourner Truth. Something she said in the face of prejudice and slander really moved me She said “This is to your shame, not mine”.
